What we believe
| >> | We believe the Bible to be inspired of God, the infallible Word of God. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). This does not mean we’ve got all the answers, but we are in search of good biblical truth and good theology! |
| >> | We believe in one God who is eternal in His existence, we see that God in scripture has revealed himself as the Father, as the Son in the person of Jesus Christ as visible in the redemption of mankind; and as the Holy Spirit in operation, (1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6; 2 Corinthians 5:19; Joel 2:28). He is sovereign and absolute in His authority, (1 John 5:7; 1 Timothy 3:16). We love the incredible complexity of grasping with this deep concept of knowing and seeking to understand God in His wonder and majesty! |
| >> | We believe that Jesus, who was God manifest in flesh, became an atoning sacrifice for man’s sins. He suffered, died, was buried and rose from the dead for our total salvation, (Luke 3:21-22; Philippians 2:5-11) Jesus is awesome! |
| >> | We believe that salvation comes by faith in Christ through grace and is not achieved by the works of mankind – that means you can’t earn it, and your acceptance to God is not based on your performance, (Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 5:5; Romans 5:1). How good is God’s grace towards us!!! |
| >> | We believe in the full salvation experience which includes true repentance, water baptism by immersion in the name of our Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit baptism with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues and the pursuit of a pure and holy life, (Acts 2:38; Titus 2:11-12; Hebrews 12:14). Why do things in half-measures? We’re a “boots-n-all” type of church! |
| >> | We believe in worshiping the Lord in spirit, song, dance (if that’s your thing!) and with the raising and clapping of our hands. We believe in using any available instrument in making a joyful noise to the Lord. We believe that we are to praise and worship God with our whole being, and that if you are not tired at the end of worship you’re probably not giving 100%, (Psalms 150:1-6; John 4:24). |
| >> | We believe in the operation of the gifts of the Spirit in order that the Body of Christ, may be built up; and that the world may see these gifts in operation as signs that God is at work amongst us, (2 Corinthians 12:1-11; 1 Corinthians 12:8-10). How awesome are the gifts when operating amongst the Body! They were designed by God to be a blessing to the church, and are not supposed to be about man’s ego! How can we take credit for something that is wonderfully and supernaturally given to us by God? We worship the giver, not the gifts! |
| >> | We believe in divine healing. Jesus Christ not only paid the price for our salvation but also for the healing of our bodies. He is touched with the feeling of our infirmities and has provided the authority to every believer to pray for the sick and see them recover, (Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:17; Mark 16:17; James 5:14-16). Is healing in the atonement? Absolutely! Jesus work was perfect and complete – all encompassing. |
| >> | We believe in the imminent return of Christ. We look forward with comfort to that glorious day that we will rise to meet Him in the air and forever be with our Lord. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are not unto the resurrection of damnation, (Matthew 24; Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 11:26; Philippians 3:20-21; 1Thessalonians 4:14-17; John 5:28-29). We admit no man knows the day or the hour of Christ’s return, but return he will! We want people to know God not just to avoid judgement, but because knowing God is all about freedom and joy! |
| >> | We believe that we as Christians are examples of the love of God in this world. It is this (agape) love that we desire to possess and without which we have no right to call ourselves Christians, (I John 4:16-17). We’ve all seen people who profess to know God, but their actions and behaviour bring shame to God and his church. Not cool! |
| >> | We believe it is the mandate of the whole Body of Christ to go into the whole world and to preach the Gospel to all creation and disciple nations! All of humanity needs a saviour, and that is why Jesus came, to seek and save the lost, (Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:19-20) This is pretty clear from Jesus’ words in the new testament. There are many ways to preach the Gospel, and the effort you put into it is between you and God. We think relationship is one of the best, but good preaching is also a way to stir the heart. It’s also the way it was done in the early church, and this does not mean side-stepping the big issues either! |
| >> | We believe our mission is to be achieved through the individual and corporate leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit, through inner witness, through prophetic voice and expression, and absolute obedience to the Word of God, (2 Peter 1:19-21; 1 Peter 4:10-11) Being led by the Spirit is a way of life, and what an awesome journey it becomes when the Holy Spirit is our power, comforter and guide! |
| >> | We believe that our mission is also achieved through boldness in the face of adversity and opposition; and a reliance upon the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome what is not of God, and that no enemy that stands against us shall prosper, (2 Peter 2:1-3; 1 John 5:4) Our enemy is not people, but the spirits that are at work in today’s world often come dressed in people. That’s why some people try to destroy any work of God. But we know that spirit-led Christians have power over the powers of darkness, and we can take authority in the spirit realm and change what happens in this world! We are not powerless! |
| >> | We believe in leaving the past behind and engaging the present, so we can create the future! |
Now, what do you believe?
